On Saturday, June 30th, Miu Miu presented its new 2019 Resort collection in Paris, at the Hotel Régina, "Place des Pyramides", where the 1874 equestrian statue of Joan of Arc, conceived by Emmanuel Frémiet, proudly stands.
Inside the luxurious hotel lobby's aquarium, a true "Belle Époque" jewel, a modern reproduction of Frémiet's statue is also displayed, persuasively making the spirit of Joan of Arc, arguably the ultimate symbol of the transgressive woman, tower over the event. Which was no coincidence.
"This is an opportunity to celebrate the freedom, the spirit of camaraderie and the liveliness that characterize the essence of Miu Miu," commented the designer Sarah Greenwood, which defines Joan of Arc as "The original feminist, whose voice of youth still resonates today – more punk pop than classical."
Greenwood, who designed the space for the fashion show, opted for a cinematic approach, literally wraping up its audience of celebrities and models in a "golden hour" twilight glow.
On the catwalk, a stellar cast of models and actresses —including many faces from the brand's past advertising campaigns— made its appearance: from Naomi Campbell to Uma Thurman, Adriana Lima and Chloë Sevigny to Alexa Chung, all the way to Suki Waterhouse and Kaia Gerber.
The show was crowned with a dinner and an exclusive after party featuring the likes of DJs Emerald Rose, Chloé Caillet, Louise Chen and Agathe Mougin.
