A first glimpse of Alberta Ferretti's new Alitalia staff uniforms

Alitalia chose the Italian designer Alberta Ferretti to create the crews' new uniforms.

Last November, the Italian airline Alitalia announced that it had decided to hire an internationally renowned designer to refresh the outfits of its commercial crews. Today, Alberta Ferretti unveiled the early sketches of the creations that should soon dress up Italian stewards and stewardesses.

"This is a unique and exciting project that I have been keen on since the beginning, and I am pleased to present my vision of Alitalia during Milan Fashion Week at Palazzo Reale in Piazza del Duomo," said the designer in a press release.

On June 15, during her double show scheduled to combine the label's 2019 Cruise Collection and Limited Edition Collection, Alberta Ferretti will unveil the new Alitalia uniforms, doing away with the company's classic all-green look. The replacement: sleek blue uniforms with touches of green and red on the ties and scarves, recalling the country's colors, along with clean lines and slim cuts to keep up with famed Italian elegance.

Ms. Ferretti will be the latest addition to the list of noted designers to have designed uniforms for airlines, from Christian Lacroix for Air France to Pierre Cardin for Olympic Airlines, and Zac Posen for Delta Airlines among others.
